Financial Accountant – part-time (30 hours)

Position summary

The Financial Accountant is responsible for the day to day financial accounting operations including, but not limited to, financial accounting, book keeping financial statement preparation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day responsibility for the Financial Accounting function, including book keeping, accounting, financial statement preparation and reporting (interim and year end)
  • Manage/perform the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close and reporting process by preparing and reviewing P&L and balance sheet financial statements, investigating significant trends and variances and ensuring proper accounting for business unit's financial operations in compliance with local and IFRS and GLEIF policies
  • Ensure compliance with all local regulatory agencies, where applicable, including legal entity reporting and tax reporting – ensure all regulatory (financial and tax) filings are accurate and are completed and filed on a timely basis
  • Provide financial analysis on ad-hoc projects as designated by management
  • Proactively apprise the Head of department of issues/concerns regarding financial and/or operational matters
  • Ensure that all necessary internal controls are developed and included in policies and procedures and that these controls are properly performed in conjunction with adherence to GLEIF documentation and guidelines
  • Provide support during external and internal audits
  • Provide certain back up support to team members when they are absent
  • Administration for finance relevant ERP systems
  • Potential additional responsibilities in related fields such as Controlling, Facilities/Premises Management and Risk Management activities

Experience and competencies for success

  • University degree in Accounting/Finance
  • At least 4 years of experience in similar functions within a multinational, multicultural corporation
  • Strong accounting skills in IFRS, BilMoG, and local Swiss GAAP
  • Confident in using the MS Office suite (Word, Excel)
  • Previous experience with Diamant is a plus
  • Organized, fast learner, who enjoys taking the initiative and can work both independently and as part of a team
  • Mature personality, who can partner with key stakeholders and provide constructive challenge and influence
  • Ability to present/discuss quantitative information/analysis in a clear and professional manner
  • Detail oriented, task oriented and used to work with tight deadlines
  • Strong personal skills, including social competency, strong cross-functional communication and people skills
  • Flexible and able to work in a dynamic work environment with a startup culture and the willingness to grow within the team and the organization as a whole
  • High energy and engagement both inside and outside of normal business hours
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Additional work experience in one or more of the following areas beneficial: risk management/risk control, controlling (management reporting, budget/forecasts, financial analysis) and/or facilities/premises management
