This is GLEIF
The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) is a supra-national, not-for-profit organization created to support the implementation and use of the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) and its digital counterpart, the verifiable LEI (vLEI).
Established in 2014 by the Financial Stability Board (FSB), GLEIF is backed and overseen by the Regulatory Oversight Committee (ROC). The ROC is a worldwide group of financial market regulators, public authorities, and observers from more than 50 countries that have come together to increase transparency in global markets and strengthen the fight against financial crime and corporate fraud.
GLEIF is, by its statutes, agnostic to commercial, political, and technological interests. In this way, GLEIF is unique in the organizational identity market.
GLEIF makes the Global LEI Index available, a data-rich global directory that is open and free to access by anyone, anywhere in the world. It is the only global online source that provides open, standardized, and high-quality legal entity reference data. GLEIF is continuously working to increase the quality of the data available in the Global LEI Index and to make public access to this information as easy as possible.
Through the Global LEI Index, GLEIF enables people and businesses to make smarter, less costly, and more reliable decisions about who to do business with.
GLEIF also ensures the operational integrity of the Global LEI System, an internationally recognized organizational identity management infrastructure and a global Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
Thanks to these services, the (v)LEI remains the industry standard for reliable, globally consistent organizational identification, which can also be leveraged across a wide variety of digitized business processes and transactions.
GLEIF has endorsed the International Open Data Charter. This aims to foster greater coherence and collaboration to promote the wider adoption and implementation of shared open data principles, standards, and good practices across sectors worldwide.
