Position summary

The System Administrator / IT-Security Engineer will, in a team, operate and support the GLEIF server environment and network infrastructure in line with GLEIF policies and procedures. The individual will work closely with the User Administrators and will support the corporate IT in this role. The individual is responsible for the quality, scope, effort, and timeliness of the provided services.

We seek an individual with the ambition and skill to work in a highly motivated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical management and patching of software applications and infrastructure
  • Design, implementation and operation of SIEM and SOAR solutions
  • Continuous improvement of monitoring strategies for new vulnerabilities to IT security
  • Evaluation of new software updates and patch management, to ensure and maintain IT security of GLEIF systems
  • Management and performance tuning of databases (MySQL/MariaDB)
  • Investigation and solving of technical issues
  • Create and maintain technical documentation of configurations and procedures
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Developers
  • Provide direct support to Software Developers and IT staff
  • Work with outsourcing and cloud partners regarding external IT infrastructure and interfaces

Experience and competencies for success

  • At least 3+ years of experience with professional systems operating (e.g. LAMP stack)
  • Excellent Linux command line skills, especially bash and ansible scripting
  • Experience with highly available, distributed and virtualized systems
  • Good understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP and load balancing
  • Experience in managing MariaDB databases and Galera clusters (including backup, restore,replication, ….)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and utilization of appropriate tools (preferably GitLab CI)
  • Ability to leverage various tools for systems/infrastructure monitoring (e.g. Prometheus,
    Grafana)
  • Knowledge of security principles and best practices
  • Very good analytical thinking and understanding of processes
  • University degree in Computer Science or similar preferred
  • Possessing team spirit and good communication skills
  • Flexible and able to work in a dynamic work environment
  • Fluent spoken and written English
