GLEIF is expanding its capacity and capabilities to support the development of the verifiable LEI (vLEI) ecosystem. GLEIF develops and maintains core software, functionalities and services for the operation of the vLEI Ecosystem and the operations of Qualified vLEI Issuers (QVIs). GLEIF has implemented the vLEI services using the Key Event Receipt Infrastructure (KERI) protocol and related standards including Authentic Chained Data Containers (ACDCs) and Composable Event Streaming Representation (CESR). It is developing related software and services to augment the utility and reliability of this ecosystem, including services and tools for watcher and verifier networks. It continues to enhance the usability of the ecosystem and contribute to the growth of a vibrant open-source developer ecosystem as well as provide guidance to QVIs, wallet and other ecosystem service providers.

GLEIF is now seeking to hire a full-time vLEI developer and data ecosystem engineer (hereafter “developer”) to supplement its existing team’s capacity to develop and maintain core services and to contribute the development of the broader ecosystem.

The candidate will join a highly motivated team with the mission to expand the Global Legal Entity Identifier system and develop its role within the further advancement of digital identity. Position Summary

Reporting to the vLEI Software Developer Team Lead, the developer will support the overall vLEI technicalteam. He/She will be expected to

(i) contribute to the development of core software applications,
(ii) support enhancements and extensions to user and technical documentation,
(iii) analyze technical and business requirements related to core and ancillary functions of the vLEI ecosystem design solutions,
(iv) engage with external ecosystem users and stakeholders to articulate use case deployment approaches, assess data ecosystem design requirements and integration approaches and translate these into functional and technical specifications.
(v) The developer will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing maintenance of applications and the open-source community.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will cover the full lifecycle of services/software you work on:

  • Requirements Engineering, Technical design, TDD implementation, documentation, monitoring, maintenance.
  • Become an expert on the vLEI and supporting technologies (KERI, ACDC, CESR, etc.).
  • Development of multiple software applications on top of KERIpy, KERIA and Signify-TS.
  • Support for the Qualified vLEI Issuer (QVI) program, technical evaluation, qualification.
  • Taking end-to-end ownership of software built and tasks assigned.
  • Maintain a high standard of software quality by fully understanding requirements and their value, doing test-driven development, adhering to guidelines and best practices, and by conducting code reviews.
  • Participate in healthy discourse; provide and receive constructive feedback within the team.
  • Support development and maintenance of end-to-end testing for the vLEI ecosystem.

The developer has potential to evolve within a growing organization, in expectation that he/she will increasingly be charged with supporting the design and development of integrations with third party services and applications and deployments within different identity and data sharing and credential ecosystems.

Experience and competencies for success

The developer should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in coding and engineering, with at least 5 of those actively engaged in new technologies and distributed data ecosystems for identity, data sharing and digital assets. Strong familiarity with identity, digital currency and data ecosystem developments and business models would be advantageous. The developer should have experience in the design and development also of identity and data wallets, verification mechanisms and graph theory.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated capacity to work effectively in distributed multi-entity teams on complex projects and across different geographies. They should be autonomous in the management of their time and self-motivated to engage in and contribute to an evolving ecosystem with a public/private mandate. Demonstrable experience in designing decentralized identity and data ecosystems and applications would be advantageous. The candidate should also have business experience in crypto or digital assets and smart contract services development.

The developer should have proven skills and expertise in Python and development of programs and software in decentralized identity and data networks, for identity, verifiable credentials and distributed ledgers.

The developer should have proven analytical and engineering skills required to design implement and document high assurance software programs for complex distributed systems.

Other Requirements

The candidate can work remotely but should ideally be based in a time zone that is amendable to supporting clients and stakeholders in East Asia. Fluency in English is required, additional language skills in Mandarin, Korean or Japanese will be considered very helpful.
