The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) 's Statutes, By-laws, and Policies define the foundation's legal basis, operating principles, and governance requirements. This page brings these documents together in one place to make access simpler and give stakeholders a clear view of GLEIF's governance framework.

Statutes

The GLEIF Statutes document is the 'constitution' of the foundation. It defines the type and method of administration. The Financial Stability Board (FSB), as the founder of GLEIF, determined the GLEIF Statutes. These Statutes were notarized following the inaugural GLEIF Board meeting on 26 June 2014.

The GLEIF Board of Directors adopted a minor revision to the Statutes regarding the term of office of Directors on 25 June 2018. The amended Statutes came into force on 7 August 2018 and were endorsed by the Swiss Federal Supervisory Authority.

By-laws

The GLEIF By-laws are issued under Article 38 of the GLEIF Statutes and set out the foundation's additional operational principles. They outline the foundation's structure and organization and define the responsibilities and authorities of its bodies.

The GLEIF By-laws were endorsed by the Swiss Supervisory Authority for Foundations.

Policies
