GLEIF Service Performance

The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) manages a network of partners to provide trusted services and open, reliable data for unique legal entity identification worldwide. GLEIF services ensure the operational integrity of the Global Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) System.

GLEIF provides services such as:

  • Accreditation of LEI issuers: In its role as accreditation agency, GLEIF evaluates the suitability of organizations seeking to operate as issuers of LEIs. LEI issuers supply registration, renewal and other services, and act as the primary interface for legal entities wishing to obtain an LEI.
  • Free access to the complete global LEI data pool: GLEIF makes available the Global LEI Index, which provides information, updated daily, on all LEIs issued to date. Any interested party can easily access and search the complete LEI data pool free of charge using the web-based LEI search tool.
  • Data quality management: The data quality management program, introduced by GLEIF, optimizes the integrity of the LEI data pool. Based on a set of clearly defined criteria, the program allows the quality of the LEI data pool to be monitored, assessed and further optimized.

Some GLEIF services are also described in the Service Level Agreement (Appendix 6 to the Master Agreement). The Master Agreement is the contractual framework governing the relationship between GLEIF and LEI issuing organizations, i.e. it details the rights and obligations of GLEIF as well as the LEI issuing organizations.

GLEIF is committed to ensuring transparency on its performance with regard to the services it provides. We therefore, make available for download monthly service reports evaluating overall GLEIF performance. In addition, we publish daily indicators on the availability of GLEIF services.

The evaluation of GLEIF service performance also allows identifying opportunities to further improve the services and will guide the evolution of the service portfolio.
