The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) has partnered with the IOTA Foundation to explore how the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) and verifiable LEI (vLEI) can bring secure, verifiable digital identity to global supply chains. By combining GLEIF’s globally recognized identity standards with IOTA’s distributed ledger and Trade Worldwide Information Network (TWIN) infrastructure, the collaboration aims to create instant, on-chain trust between organizations, strengthen transparency, and reduce friction in cross-border trade. Initial proof-of-concept projects are investigating real-world applications such as streamlining customs checks, simplifying supply chain processes, enabling secure digital payments, and expanding access to trade finance, while also contributing to the development of digital public infrastructure worldwide.
